Coconut Nursery COVID19

The nursery works closely with the welfare officers at the Hackney Learning Trust to make sure we have safe operating procedures and are following the latest government guidance.

The risk assessment is updated weekly and disseminated to the staff team. All parents, staff and visitors are made aware of our system of controls:

Prevention
1) Minimise contact with individuals who are unwell by ensuring that those who have coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms, or who have someone in their household who does, do not attend settings.

2) Where recommended, use of face coverings.

3) Clean hands thoroughly more often than usual.

4) Ensure good respiratory hygiene by promoting the ‘catch it, bin it, kill it’ approach.

5) Introduce enhanced cleaning, including cleaning frequently touched surfaces often using standard products, such as detergents and bleach.

6) Minimise contact between groups where possible.

7) Where necessary, wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Numbers 1 to 5 must be in place in all settings, all the time.

Number 6 must be properly considered, and settings must put in place measures that suit their particular circumstances.

Number 7 applies in all specific circumstances.

Response to any infection
8) Engage with the NHS Test and Trace process.

9) Manage confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) amongst the setting community.

10) Contain any outbreak by following local health protection team advice.

11) Notify Ofsted.

Numbers 8 to 11 must be followed in every case where they are relevant.

In addition to the system of controls we take the following precautions to help prevent the spread of corona virus:

  1. Parents are not allowed onto the premises unless they are settling their child in which case they can come for 1-2 hours maximum
  2. Staff rooms are well ventilated
  3. Staff stay 1m+ apart wherever possible
  4. Pregnant women are risk assessed separately
  5. Daily risk assessments are carried out every day
  6. Visiting teachers wear a visor when teaching
  7. Parents and staff wear masks when dropping or collecting children
  8. The children’s temperatures are taken on arrival. Any children with raised temperatures are sent home without delay
